The Mega Society: One in a Million IQ

The Mega Society is the most famous of the most high IQ societies. Members have scored at the one-in-a-million level on a test of higher levels of general intelligence such as the Mega Test, designed by the Mega Society founder Ronald Hoeflin. That is an IQ of at least 172 (on a test with a standard deviation of 15). Only 1 in 20,000  Mensa members could be a member of the Mega Society!

IQ Tests for Entry into the Mega Society

Most IQ tests are designed so that the average score (100) is obtained by most people. This is called test standardization, and these tests discriminate well among individuals in the middle IQ ranges. However, they are not so good at discriminating among the highest levels of IQ - for instance above 150.

There have been various high IQ society tests devised over the years that make fine distinctions in the highest IQ levels. One of the most famous of these is the Mega IQ test. A score of just 1 (out of a total of 48 questions) means you have an IQ of between 100 and 110!
