Brain training science for increasing
IQ
"
Increasing
intelligence is possible after all ...with more
training leading
to greater gains ...across the spectrum of
abilities."
Robert Sternberg, Psychology
Professor
Your intelligence: Can it really be
improved?
Yes –
dramatically. Through training with our brain training download
High IQ Pro® your IQ
level can increase on any scientifically
validated IQ test that measures
your
fluid
intelligence - your ability to reason
and problem solve in novel
situations.
By how much
can your fluid intelligence IQ level
increase?
You
can increase fluid intelligence by 40% according
to the original scientific study. There is a training
effect on IQ level for people of all starting intelligence
levels. This graph shows the IQ gains in the
study.
How much brain training do you have to
do?
20-25 minutes of
daily brain training for 19 days. You can have weekends
off! You may divide each day's training into a morning
and evening
session.
Why is this ground breaking scientific
news?
The science behind this discovery is
historic. In over 40 years of scientific studies, this
software is the only known brain
training exercise that has been
scientifically demonstrated to improve fluid
intelligence. And it works regardless of your starting
intelligence level.
Professor Robert
Sternberg. the world's leading authority on intelligence,
has said of this brain training
exercise:
“
Almost 40
years ago, Jensen claimed that, when all is said and done,
there is not much one can do to raise people’s IQs.
Jaeggi and
her colleagues have made an
important contribution... by showing that intelligence is
t
rainable
to a significant and
meaningful
degree."
Who are the
scientists responsible for the
discovery?
The brain training
exercise was developed over many years by
cognitive psychologists at the University of Bern in
Switzerland and the University of Michigan in the
States. The team, led by
Dr. Susanne Jaeggi, published their results in
Proceedings of the National Academy
of Sciences in 2008. The article can be found by

Why does this brain
training exercise work?
Working
memory
The brain training
software works by
exercising your 'working memory'
-a short term memory
system used to hold in mind a few items of information
for a brief time and
process this
information in order to reason and solve
problems while ignoring distracting
information. There are different
working memory stores for spatial and verbal information.
We use working memory when we reason, plan and
problem solve. This graph shows typical increases in
working memory capacity (how many items of information
you can hold in mind) as a result of daily brain training
on IQ Lift's
brain training
exercise.

Many scientists now
believe that working
memory and fluid intelligence are closely related,
and that both share the same brain circuitry -
the
hippocampus and part of
the
prefrontal cortex of
the brain called the dorsolateral prefrontal
cortex.

Why does our
recommended free brain training download improve IQ? Because
by improving your working memory, you increase the amount of
information you can hold in mind and process, and this
increases your ability to reason and problem solve and plan
- in other words, it improves your fluid intelligence and
IQ!

Warning:
There are many bogus claims about
boosting IQ in the 'brain training' and 'smart drugs'
industries that have no genuine scientific
basis, even if they come 'highly
recommended'. Recommendations can be misleading if they
are not supported by facts. In evaluating a claim that
some brain training software or brain supplement
increases IQ always ask yourself:
Scientific
journal
article?
Where is the peer reviewed scientific journal article
that the research is based on? Where is the
reference to the article
on the site? If there is only a 'research institute'
mentioned, or you see graphical 'data' on the website
with no reputable journal that has published it, then
don't trust it. It has no real
scientific
credibility.
Website author
credentials?
Who is responsible for the content of the website? Is
he/she a qualified cognitive psychologist /
neuroscientist working at a reputable
university? Or simply a business person or an amateur
enthusiast? If they are not a scientist, why trust the
claims they make? The science is hard to get right, and
takes years of
training.
IQ or something
else?
Does the intervention improve
intelligence specifically or
something else - like attention? Coffee helps people stay awake
because it is a stimulant, but it doesn't improve IQ! There are
'smart pills' and lots of 'brain training' software on the
market that improves some cognitive abilities but not
intelligence. Fluid intelligence is very hard to
change.
