While a 'gifted IQ' is usually defined as an IQ level above 130 (Mensa requirements), a 'genius IQ' is usually defined as an IQ score of >140 on a standardized IQ test. About 1 in 400 people have an IQ level this high and can be said to have 'genius intelligence'. Clearly not everyone who has an IQ above 140 is a true genius according to how society understands genius. If this were the case, there would several geniuses in every school. In the UK alone, with a population of 61 million, there would be over 15,000 geniuses! Genius has a deep transformative power in society at large, and this is much rarer.

There is no specific 'genius test'. There are some specially designed high IQ tests (e.g. Ronald Hoeflin's Mega Test), which are designed so that a genius IQ score of 140 is average! If you take one of our recommended free online IQ tests and score above 140, this places you in the 'genius IQ' range. You might then try one of these uncommonly difficult IQ tests - such as the Mega test. But remember - the highest IQs are not always true geniuses. Generally, psychologists and psychmetricians do not use the term 'genius IQ' to describe exceptionally high IQ scores.

It is debatable whether any of these highest IQ individuals would be considered to be a true genius - unless perhaps Christopher Langan's 'cognitive theoretic model of the universe' catches on in a big way and alters how society thinks or understands reality.
